Your little reading circle
Privacy,
in plain words.
Bemmi is a picture-book app for parents to read with their children. No Bemmi account, advertising or analytics. This page explains what stays on your iPhone and what happens if you choose to contact us.
Updated 5 November 2026. This policy covers the Bemmi iPhone app and bemmi.app. The app is coming soon; our website and support and privacy addresses are available now.
Your voice stays on your iPhone
Speech recognition runs on the device while you choose to read aloud. Bemmi does not automatically send microphone audio, recognised words, reading progress or story-night memories to us. The website’s previews never use your microphone.
Apple may download an on-device speech model during initial setup. You can browse books and turn pages without allowing microphone access. Stop listening in the reader, or turn off Bemmi’s microphone and speech permissions in your iPhone’s Settings.
Saved places and story nights
Bookmarks, finished-read history and preferences stay in the app on this iPhone until its data is removed. There is no Bemmi cloud account or cross-device reading-history service. Your device backup settings may include these preferences and bookmarks.
Restoring a purchase restores access to books. It does not recover a lost bookmark or share reading progress between parents.
Optional testing files
Audio recording and testing files are off by default. Normal reading does not save audio or transcripts. Upgrading from the prototype does not treat its old recording default as permission to keep recording. Your bookmarks and story nights still work.
In Settings → Testing, a parent can enable Save testing files. These files include recognised words, story and page details, cue timings, settings, dates and the iPhone model and iOS version. Save audio for analysis is a separate choice and records voices and nearby sounds during a read. Make sure everyone agrees before recording.
The latest 10 recorded reads keep their audio; starting another audio recording removes older audio. Logs and replay transcripts remain until you delete them. Switching recording off keeps existing files. Audio and diagnostic files are excluded from device backups and are never uploaded automatically.
To share a test, prepare a copy in Testing and explicitly choose Share and a destination. New files and sharing copies use elapsed time within the read instead of the device’s uptime. Older original files remain unchanged. Temporary sharing copies are removed when the sharing screen closes or Bemmi next opens. The recipient or service you choose handles the copies you send.
Your controls
- Stop listening: pause in the reader or revoke microphone and speech permissions in iPhone Settings. You can still explore the pictures.
- Stop new testing files: pause listening, then turn off Settings → Testing → Save testing files. This also turns audio saving off.
- Remove test files: use Files → On My iPhone → Bemmi to delete recordings and logs you no longer want. Recently Deleted may retain a recoverable copy.
- Remove local app data: deleting Bemmi removes its local preferences, bookmarks, history and test files. Device backups may retain earlier preferences and bookmarks. Restoring a purchase does not restore deleted reading progress.
- Copies you shared: delete them at the destination or ask the recipient to remove them. Bemmi cannot remove someone else’s copy.
Purchases and Family Sharing
Apple processes payment and restoration and manages Family Sharing. Bemmi checks Apple’s signed purchase information to decide which books are available. It does not receive your card number or billing address or send purchase information to a Bemmi server.
A shared purchase does not share anyone’s reading history. Apple handles its services under Apple’s privacy policy.
Children and reading together
Bemmi is intended for an adult to use with a child. It does not ask for a child’s name, birthday, profile or contact details, and has no chat, public profiles or advertising. Adults manage purchases and any sharing of testing files. Please avoid sending identifying information about a child in a support request.
This website
This website serves its illustrations, fonts and scripts from the same site. It has no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, signup form, cookies set by the site, or persistent browser storage. Playing a preview does not send a recording or message.
Cloudflare Pages hosts and protects bemmi.app. Cloudflare processes connection information such as your IP address, requested page, browser information and request time to deliver and secure the site. We have not enabled Cloudflare Web Analytics or exported visitor-level access logs. Cloudflare may use security cookies when needed to protect the service; its operational and security records are handled under its privacy policy. Support and privacy questions
For privacy questions, or to request access to, correction of or deletion of information you have sent us, email privacy@bemmi.app. We cannot retrieve reading data that has stayed only on your device.
For help with reading or purchases, email support@bemmi.app.
Both addresses reach the same Bemmi inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing and Gmail. Those providers process the email address, message and attachments you choose to send. We will use correspondence to answer the request, resolve related follow-up issues and meet any applicable record-keeping obligations, not for advertising. Resolved correspondence will be reviewed and deleted when no longer needed for those purposes.
The providers’ policies are available at Cloudflare and Google. We publish only the Bemmi contact addresses above.
